Corey gave me a haircut and then we did lighting for Trial. I didn’t have to do train yet.
I saw Jenni! She’s back because Jason had to do another show, but I wish they both were here. On a break Helga put my wig on and my mom took really funny pictures. I took pictures and videos on stage, too.
It was strange to be on a small stage, but everyone was laughing and I got to FaceTime one of my friends during a break.
After school, we went on the subway for the first time. It’s the U-bahn or S-bahn and you get a ticket and stamp it but no one checks to see if you have it! So you could go for free. Kate got checked today and she actually got a ticket for 40€.
We stopped at a canal and walked over to the big TV tower. I wanted to go up, so we walked around to find the entrance but a police officer stopped us and told us we needed to move away from the area. Then five secret service black cars drove up and people got out. We think it was someone political but it could have been Lady Gaga! So we went to lunch since we couldn’t go up. We found a really good place that had German food. I had white sausages with a pretzel and apple strudel with whipped cream and more cream. It was delicious!
I had a great day!
Linsey walked us over to the theater and we met Tom. I got a badge and saw my dressing room. Then she showed us the Green Room. It’s the best one we’ve had and it’s a tent! The theater is too small, so they built a tent and put big couches in it. It’s great.
We had school in Bob’s room because he isn’t here yet. Tom is very smart and I learned some good things for Math. I definitely like him.
We took a field trip to the Tiergarten Park. It’s kind of like Central Park and has a zoo and canals. Then we climbed to the top of the Victory Tower.
We had lunch and I tried a Mezzo Mix. It’s coca cola and fanta mixed together.
We rested at home and then we had the safety tour. It was good to see everyone. We had birthday cakes for Linsey, Helga, Anne, my mom, and Carlos.
We got to our hotel and it is all Andy Warhol inside.
We are on the front Kulture page of the paper!
It was breakfast time so we ate breakfast in the lobby and then rested in the room.
We went to get some water and snacks for the room at the grocery store and then we found the best pizza place nearby.
Our neighborhood is around a lot of shops and restaurants, but the buildings look deserted.
Tomorrow I am meeting my tutor for school. I hope he’s nice like Alex from Paris. They are friends!
My Mom asked me what the first thing I remembered about each city we went to on tour.
Rehearsal at the Baryshnikov Center was in NYC, but I started with that:
I was very very shy. I had a lot of fun laughing when I met Charles in Trial rehearsal. I thought, am I going to know all of these people’s names? Before we got the cube, I used Charlie’s plastic salad bowl.
Ann Arbor: the Michigan basketball game with my tutor Jim. The time my Mom let me go to a place called Buffalo Wild Wings. The party we had closing night and the NFC championship game was on.
Reggio Emilia: Dad was there. The best tortelli verde. Trash can basketball.
London: Hamleys toy store. Walking everywhere. The time we found the Sherlock Holmes place on the way home and ate there.
Brooklyn: I was at home and it was really hard not staying closer to BAM. The burger place!
Berkeley: Yogurtland. The Giants won World Series.
Not a tour city but we stayed on West Coast instead of going home when they had the big hurricane:
Los Angeles: Disneyland on Halloween Night!
San Francisco: Trolley. Going to Alcatraz. Almost missing the plane to Mexico.
Mexico City: Orly in a cow suit! The pyramids and climbing both. Churros filled with chocolate. Chinese food in Mexico.
Hong Kong: Going to Big Buddha. Seeing everything!
Melbourne: The costume exhibit. Our whole day trip to the country. When the koala photobombed me.
Los Angeles: The creepy walk back to the hotel at night and it felt like zombies were after us! Our 50th show.
Paris: Every single tourist attraction we went to and I usually DO NOT like places with a lot of people.
Well we are leaving in two days for Berlin.
It’s our very last show.
I think I should tell you what has happened since we got back from Paris:
I got into The Gob Squad’s show! It’s another play that will take two years to do. But it’s going to happen at the Public Theater, it’s by my house and drumroll…it’s ALL KIDS!
It snowed a lot. I took a picture of my basketball court and you can’t tell it’s there. It was a lot of snow.
I went to the Super Bowl party in Times Square with my friends. It was fun, we saw a few football players.
The best thing I did was go to the Amnesty International Concert. It was at Barclays and Imagine Dragons played. And The Fray, Blondie, Cake, Tegan & Sara, Cold War Kids, Colbie Callait, Lauryn Hill, and The Flaming Lips. There was a guy in Blondie that played a real KEYTAR! We had good seats and the Impractical Jokers and Pussy Riot were sitting by us. Two of them who were in prison came from Russia and Madonna introduced them.
It was so great!
